When it gets vicious - I break to the Lounge or other Groups.

Heck, - I take breaks in the middle of many of my posts to take a wander outside.

Soothes my soul.

Take a few days off. Don't watch or listen to the news if you can avoid it. It's amazing how serene one can feel when blissfully unaware.

I get depressed, angry and frustrated after a while. Anxious too secondary to impotent powerlessness in most cases.

I could never work full time in the news business, unless it was entertainment news lol and then I'd probably get a bit disgusted with the silly stuff.

I've been to Barrow AK but never northern Canada.

is watching others fish. You might want to think a little though about reading a book. You might miss seeing the Black Bear getting a drink of water, or the Bull Moose walking along the shoreline, or the family of Otters playing. These are things we see every time we go up there.

I paid attention the few months after the election, but I've found myself kind of burned out lately and have just been watching regular TV or catching up on my reading lately.

I'm tired to the bone of the teabaggerratti. They're exhausting. Ted Cruz was the last straw. Suddenly I don't want to know what's going on so much. I was losing IQ points.

I've taken to watching the channels that show the 70's reruns .... Scooby Doo, Charlie's Angels, Mary Tyler Moore, WKRP, etc ...
Shit just seemed easier to deal with then, even though many of the same issues (& criminals) were still at play.

I take breaks from the heavier parts of DU when things get too nasty for me. And honestly, these past couple of weeks have been some of the nastiest times that I remember since I joined in 2004.

Heck, at times, I get afraid to post anything that doesn't agree with the majority posters. I've read flaming responses to some posters which responses were nothing more than cyber bullying.

It's really a shame when things stoop to that level IMHO. I've enjoyed DU very much in the past as a resource for learning and keeping up with current events and political opinions, etc.
