Happy Birthday Dookie, which was released 18 years ago today.
First, I forgot that I also had the AOTD since it is the 1st and I have the odd days for albums. Normally I wouldn't pick Green Day just yet since "American Idiot" was used a few days ago, but "Dookie" is a great album and big part of the music revolution of the 90s.
I was just coming back to work after lunch break having paid $800 for what was suppose to be an oil change Well at least I don't have car payments and the car shouldn't need anything for another 2-3 years (knock on wood). I was flipping the radio stations and WMMR 93.3 with Pierre Robert was playing a bunch of great songs from Dookie to commerate the 18th anniversary of this fun and amazing album. It also made me feel old because I remember when it first came out and didnt' think Green Day would ever amount to everything (I was a bit of a music snob back then) but over the years I've come to love listening to Green Day and I've seen them in concert twice.
So tune up your record & cd players and turn the volume to 11 - enjoy today's great album!

(5,909 posts)My favorite songs on that album are Sassafras Roots and Coming Clean. When I saw them on their last tour, Billie Joe sang an acoustic version of Coming Clean, which was awesome.

(6,581 posts)Thanks for posting it, though. I was just watching some of these videos online the past week or so. I kept hearing commercials for the touring company of American Idiot (the musical) as it was passing through Detroit recently, and so I went on a Green Day binge online.
I like them for both their music AND their politics. They're "one of us", you know.
