Great. Now B&N will go away. That's our last first-run book store in the area. HopeHoops Feb 2012 #9

I have yet to get an e-reader. I'll probably end up just getting an iPad or Android tablet. Then I'll be able to read ebooks from either place on the same device.

What ever happened to the days when we could have more than one major player in a particular retail segment? Competition? Screw that! Let's let everything come down to one major and a few minor players so the consumer has no real choice unless they want to pay more.

Both of these devices are basically somewhat locked up Android tablets. With a little effort, it is possible to put the Barnes & Noble reader on the Kindle Fire. With even less effort it's possible to put the Kindle app on the Nook Tablet.

and a much bigger book selection than Nook. Plenty of free ebooks available, too. And I'm much more comfortable traveling with a $79 ereader than with a $500 iPad.

Walden and other small stores went away a long time ago. Borders is gone. B&N has a parking lot from hell and the computer section sucks moose cock, but at least it is there. Dumb move B&N. Dumb move.
