When I was a kid, maybe a half a dozen years we got a cottage at Long Beach. Two of my favorite day trips was going to the fish pier in Gloucester and Rockport. Do you live there or vacationing?

2. Live about an hour away, it's a good day trip!

3. I have visited Rockport twice (from boring Midwest)

and adore it. It is the epitome of a New England town.

8. Some friends of ours headed up that way this morning

We are on vacation in the States for a few weeks on the outer part of Cape Cod. We love it here. Been coming here for MANY years.

Recently, there have been programs to bring students here from Eastern Europe and the near east or Central Asia to work menial jobs here to improve their English. For me this is xenophile heaven, as nothing gets you a bigger smile (or better service) than asking some overworked, exploited university student where they are from, and then responding to their answer with a few words of their own language, be it Turkish, Bulgarian, Romanian, Russian, Hungarian or Serbian.
