A B-24, two B-17's, and a B-29!
Pure music to this Warbird nut.
I used to know someone who worked for EAA in Oshkosh, and when he came to DC, he worked for GAMA (General Aviation Mfgrs. Assoc.), and then Gulfstream. So he was well acquainted with the Fly In.

(3,539 posts)That B-29 was Fifi. My understanding is that she is the only airworthy B-29 left.

(46,337 posts)I stood next to the Enola Gay, at the Air and Space Smithsonian.
But seeing "Fifi" fly over my head, and low enough I could tell it was a B-29, not to mention the music from those engines was a real treat.

(3,539 posts)We're the civilian public affairs group at Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee Mass. About 12 years ago Fifi was part of our warbird static display at our airshow. I got to climb on board Fifi for a tour of the flight deck, flight engineer's station and the navigator's station. I couldn't believe the long tube that allowed for crew members to get to the gunner's positions.

and the gawdawful noise they made was unbelievable! No tin foil hat needed, though; I'm about 30 miles south of Ft. Hood. They were probably on a training exercise, as they were flying low and slow.
