Google has DESTROYED the usefulness of "street view".. }: (

The way I find my way to places I've never been is to trot that little yellow man along the route. I can see where he is on the map, and I can see the landmarks along the route. (i.e. turn left at the Hess Station, etc)

Now, even on "classic" view.. You can't see the little man on the map or which way he's facing.

(furious)

Google has faced a lot of successful competition of late from Microsoft's Bing search engine, a lot of people prefer Bing Maps in particular. So Google is trying to revamp their whole map experience. I like some of the new look and like you I dislike some other things.

I set the little yellow man on the street , then look up or down the street. Click on the arrow on the street, or jump farther ahead by clicking on the circle that shows up, or zoom ahead as far as the eye can see by clicking on the rectangle that is beyond the circle.
Also look to left or right, up or down, or spin around or go up side streets, also see where north is, using the little "compass rose" on upper left of map.
