(12,132 posts)but I also would have picked GoT had it been there with Justified a pretty close second.

(1,107 posts)Raylan and Boyd are the best. ( but there is a special place in my heart for Art).

(22,380 posts)in spite of my age and being such a rabid Democrat = it's Breaking Bad without a doubt.

(22,380 posts)then he came back and saw me through a few more (he goes to college near my house) and since I draw a line at not watching violent things he watched me change my tune just this once.
After that, I sat up whenever I was not working and wide eyed made my way through the Breaking Bad seasons.
It's the best show ever - not counting "The West Wing", which simply stands all by itself not unlike BBad.
I can't wait for August 11, I think that's when it starts again.

(27,677 posts)Better than The Wire, West Wing, Six Feet Under, just to name a few other series I really love. I only started watching last summer, starting from the beginningyou can't jump into this show midstreamand I was hooked after the first episode. It's as addictive as the blue stuff Walter and Jesse cook. It's a modern tragedy and it's not going to end well.
August 11 can't get here soon enough...

And I agree, BB is perhaps the best series that I have ever seen.

(21,925 posts)I haven't seen the others so I can't comment. I've kind of gotten a little burnt out lately on Real time though.

(17,086 posts)I assume you mean Real Time with Bill Maher, and I've never even heard of Say Yes to the Dress...
Kind of an odd group to choose from.
ZombieHorde
(29,047 posts)Except for Newsroom. My wife and I plan on watching when we can though. And yes, I do mean RT with Bill Maher. Say Yes to the Dress is a reality show about a bridal shop that tries to sell dresses to brides to be. You'll see some women come into the shop, try on dresses, and then they usually buy one. I can't get into it, but my wife just loves it.

(80,708 posts)Game of Thrones, breaking bad, mad men ... with boardwalk empire trailing after.
Walking dead is good, newsroom is marginal, but those 4 are the peak.

(80,708 posts)I watched season one, got hooked and promptly ran out and read the books.
I was one of those nerdy D&D kids, back pre-computers, but i could never sit down and read Tolkien.. Too dry. But George RR Martin spins a great yarn.

(22,256 posts)but it wasn't in the poll
I love Newsroom and Boardwalk Empire and Breaking Bad and True Blood and it was difficult to choose.
"A Song of Ice and Fire" has been a hot topic of discussion since my daughter brought "Game of Thrones" into our house 13 years ago when she was around 15 and after reading it gave it to my husband and said "You are going to love this Dad" and then I read it . "Storm of Swords" came out that Christmas and we fought over who would read it first. I have read the first 3 books 3 times each and book 4 twice. Book 5 only once.
Every Sunday night we watch the current episode of Game of Thrones twice.
we are so hooked ..we get on the phone with our daughter in Arizona and have long talks about the plot line and what we think he is going to do with certain characters.

(20,776 posts)I have not seen any of them, however..I am just now enjoying season three of Game of Thrones. I am on episode 8..two more to go. I hope it continues.. or at least goes another season.
yellowdogintexas
(22,256 posts)You can expect at least 2 more seasons after that since season 4 is based on the second half of book 3.
Seasons 5 and 6 should combine stuff from books 4 and 5 (the novels split the timeline with only half the characters in each book)
The series appears to be working towards integrating the two books chronologically to keep the characters working. If HBO is willing and the ratings stay as high as they are, conceivably 3 seasons could be milked out of books 4 & 5.
Then book 6 will be out and the show goes on.
One of the best adaptations ever; while there are some deviations in the storyline, the casting has been so incredibly perfect that I can forgive them a lot.
Only a few have been better: "To Kill a Mockingbird" (perfect)
"The GodFather" (nearly perfect) "Gone With the Wind" pretty darn close

(21,020 posts)"Yes to the dress" once.
The rest, never saw.
Don't really have a favorite show, except, as someone else wrote above it's something with Stephen Hawking or Michio Kaku or Neil degrasse Tyson in it.
PS...not being a snob...I just like Science a lot.

And I'm waiting for "The Vikings" to return, but that isn't until next year.

(53,032 posts)but it's run its course. He needs to get caught. I watched the Walking Dead a few weekends ago when AMC run all the episodes. I DVRed them and watched them all within about a week's time. I was really grossed out at first but eventually got into the story.
My favorites shows aren't on that list, however. I would put Homeland first, Game of Thrones second and either Major Crimes or the Killing third.
