(2,670 posts)Here's a question how do you like your bacon cooked. My girlfriend and I go back and forth on this I like mine cooked but still kinda chewy she prefers hers extra crispy which she says is the proper way to have bacon.

(41,984 posts)Good bacon, cooked very slowly. And I hardly ever have either bacon or bear claws, but I would every day if I could.

(12,132 posts)when held at one end should ever so slightly droop but not flop. It's just allllllllllllllllmost crispy but still have a touch of chewy.
My wife and I recently ate at a breakfast place in Indianapolis and, upon checking out, the hostess asked how everything was. I sighed and said everything was wonderful and could you please come home to Florida with us and explain to Peach Valley Cafe that THIS is how you cook bacon... Also this is how you make an egg over medium. PVC has a lot of fancy tables and pictures and upholstery but no smarts in the kitchen.
I am almost ready to completely give up on PVC however they have Bellinis. On second thought, I can make them at home.

(55,012 posts)I love salt and grease - fry something in bacon grease and I am there, baby
alcohol - new people and conversations or old friends I haven't seen in a while? overindulgence, for sure
driving a cool newish vehicle? speed and recklessness? oh yes (same with a new horse)
red meat, alcohol, bad boys, horses, pain relievers, powerful vehicles. hmmm. yeah!

(2,670 posts)Alcohol with friends is always fun because I have a friend who's always finding some new beer or drink we have to try.
Kali
(55,012 posts)so I don't really like being around drunks, and I have a tendency to overindulgence or probably real addiction so I tend to avoid, but when the mood strikes and the conditions are "fun" I love to try new things and get wasted.

(3,179 posts)I seldom eat anything that is extremely sweet but when I do, it must be followed by something salty.
I don't crave much sweet stuff, but of course will eat it if it is around or in front of me, but MUST have something salty afterwards.

(3,179 posts)She took my brothers and I grocery shopping and gave each of us a little money to spend. My brothers each bought a bag full of penny candy. She thought it hilarious that I bought a huge dill pickle from a barrel that most small grocery stores had at that time. The good ol' days when a nickel was worth something.

(21,925 posts)I still dream about cigars. It's an acquired taste but once you learn to appreciate them, there's nothing like a good cigar.
I could also add going to some colorful Asian bars in SoCal and getting drunk. I stopped doing that, too, in the early 1990s. I had a few dangerous encounters with people bearing firearms.

(2,670 posts)I can't eat eggs benedict hollandaise sauce is the perfect setting for food poisoning and making it in culinary school was pretty much the biggest pain in my ass ever. One wrong move and you get to start over so I have a personal grudge against hollandaise sauce. Now I want fettuccine at 2:39 in the am

(81,304 posts)Sigh...
It isn't on my diet. And I KNOW it's full of all the wrong things. And I KNOW I've been good on my diet and have lost about 35 pounds. And I KNOW it's because, among other things, I'm making other meal choices than fettuccine alfredo. I know ALL those things.
But I still want Fettuccine Alfredo. Whichever way I spell it, too!

My old body rebels at the heat and the sun, where years gone by I'd spend all day out in the sun.
I almost said beer and cigarettes, but they are not "favorites".
Beer is a habit, cigarettes are an addiction I would like to beat.
Quit twice in the past, once for 6 months (cigarettes) so I know it's doable.
My life has been a turmoil for many years, but most issues are now resolved.
I can DO the beer and smoking thing - not much I can do about the sun -
Summer does not give me the joy being outside for any length of time that it once did.
Sad that, because I love being out there with momma nature.
Have to stick to fall, winter, spring then,
Also doable

Have 2 friends that tried to push me into these "puffers"
Said they were GREAT.
Then they started bumming smokes off of me (I really didn't mind, just disappointed).
If you have been smoking for a long time, and you want to quit, ya gotta stay away from smokers.
Both made comments to the effect - ooh smells good - can I have one?
I tried saying no a couple of times, but after they whined for a bit - I gave in.
Not one of my better decisions . . .
Both of them are back to smoking full time now ..
When - not if - I quit,
that'll be it.
Stress part of my life is just about done.
Lived in poverty for years, now own my own home -
and a reasonable pension to survive in comfort if I watch my $$.
I'm watching - and yep, part of that is the quit smoking thing.
Saves $$ - and Ill live longer.
Got a beautiful place to enjoy in the bush,
enjoy it I will.

(12,336 posts)And more bacon. My wife refuses to buy bacon at the grocery store so I go and get it myself. Then she yells at me and I happily eat my bacon. I do sometimes try to point out that I eat lettuce and tomatoes with he bacon but she has to bring up the eggs.
And another thing is ribs from a local establishment. Man oh man are they good! The wife doesn't say a lot about those because she eats 'em herself.

(20,176 posts)The first time I saw it on the menu the description said "Large Stack of French Toast. (May feed 2) No Home Fries. No Breakfast Meat. Standard Brunch-Menu Beverage included. $11.95."
What it should say is "Entire loaf of Challah Bread French Toast made with 1 doz. Eggs. Served with Real Grade-B Maple Syrup and fresh-churn Butter. Skip the alcohol with Brunch, that much sugar and alcohol is going to fucking wreck you and the volume you're going to expel into a Silver Spring gutter will be the thing of legend."

I go nowhere without a container of Kraft Parmesan "cheese". It's like snow atop of my soups, salads, omlettes--anything savory. I do understand there's no real food in there, but we all have our anomalies, right???
