I once pulled into my garage and found one of these little guys sitting on my car like a hood ornament. I worried about where to let him go, since I wasn't sure where I picked him up...

I'm glad to see your little frog visitor, and glad to read that Phentex has been seeing giant toads!
Fish and amphibians are adversely affected by the hormones from birth control pills, and other pharmaceuticals which are flushed from our bodies, then flushed into the water cycle.

Western, New York to be specific.

As you mention, amphibians are a great indicator of environmental conditions...

Our area has a healthy population of salamanders as well, which are generally the most sensitive to stress on the environment...
