PSA: I freaking hate goatheads! (tribulus terrestris)
If you ever run across this plant, please feel free to kill it without mercy - and I will reward you with my most benevolent of good thoughts...

goatheads are nasty, but sandburs are evil
goatheads are pretty easy to spot, and they eventually get ground down so you can go barefoot again, or they are just always in the same place so wear smooth soled shoes there to avoid tracking them back to non-infested areas/inside.
sand burs are evil and they will let you walk into an area and then close ranks behind you so you can't get back out. Plus they jump and attach to shoe laces, socks and frayed jean hems all winter. Goatheads are mostly gone by then.
