Cleaning out the fridge at work

Funny how all these people ignored the 20 emails this week saying the fridge was going to be cleaned out at this specific time today, yet there were more than a handful of people there within 2 minutes after we were finished pissed because we threw away all their stuff. LOL

Each week 3-4 people were selected from a row of cubicles, the process was repeated every week so that everyone (including the CEOs) were involved. With everybody responsible it meant that the fridge didn't get as dirty and nobody had a right to gripe. Besides, who wants leftovers that are more than 48 hours old?

His name was Phil, he was a great big, burly young guy, college aged, with an enormous appetite.

Phil made sure nothing sat around long, because if no one claimed it after a day or two, he would eat it.

Some people were pissed at times -- even me, one day, he ate the lunch I had put in the fridge 2 hours earlier, because he thought it had sat there from the prior day.

But overall, I didn't mind. He was struggling, trying to scrape together enough $ for the next semester, and floated between friends houses, and sometimes even had to sleep at work because he didn't have a place for the night. Parents were asses, lived in a big fancy house on the lake about 2 miles away, and didn't want to help him -- the wife resented the fact Phil was really her step-son, and was jealous of the ex-wife after all that time.

I didn't mind feeding the Phil from time to time. I would slip him a $20 sometimes on payday to help out the cause, so at least I knew he had a couple of decent meals for a day.

Most of them get flushed on a regular basis - so it's not a big deal.

Rotting food in a fridge?

That'll make me gag.
