Does anyone here watch the NBC show "Revolution"?

I've never watched it, but this morning I found out that they will be filming the show in my tiny central Texas town! Filming starts July 5, but I have no particulars as to whether this is one episode or the whole next season. I'll post details and pics when available....the last filming to take place here was a scene (where Mattie takes that banker to task) from the Cohen Bros. re-make of "True Grit", with most of the town scenes at the beginning of the movie shot 5 miles away in Granger, Texas. How cool is that?

But, there is some really BAAAD acting in that show and the good actors, of which there are at least three, are given such uni-dimensional roles replete with really bad lines that I tend to cringe watching it.

But, yeah, it is cool to be right nearby where they are filming it, nonetheless.

The acting and lines on a lot of these tv shows are less than stellar these days,
but there is much, much worse.

We don't watch that many shows but this is one.

but, it's rarely well executed. Plus, the young woman playing Charlie - the Luke Skywalker like female lead - is a worse actor than Mark Hamill was in the original Star Wars (a new hope)

I find it interesting that all this electronic equipment was lying around unused for 15+ years, then suddenly power comes back in a very limited area and everything pops back up into working condition, including things like helicopters. Come on... it's been so perfectly maintained for 15 years without being used and just bam, runs just fine when it gets power?

Or, how her uncle Miles was drunkenly able to fight his way through a dozen militia soldiers by himself when they first met him with Bruce Lee in his prime, then struggles in every hand-to-hand situation after that, despite it being only one-on-one.

Remember the lighthouse? Once the damping field was activated, the diesel generator just started itself without any human interaction and the whole thing lit up. Yep, because that's EXACTLY how it would happen.

I like the concept of Revolution, and I understand that television requires some "suspension of disbelief", but that show tends to take things to the laughable extreme.

I loved how they finally had to acknowledge the 10 million Internet comments asking whether humans forgot about STEAM too, by showing widespread steam power in the Georgia Republic and attributing the lack of water and steam driven equipment in the story to the economic problems and military government in the Monroe Republic. Yeah...because transportation systems and mechanization are completely useless militarily and contribute nothing to an economy

And let's not even discuss the fact that mechanical diesel engines can run just fine without any electricity whatsoever. They're a bit harder to start without glow plugs, but there are mechanical starting systems that can get them running with just a little effort. Heck, a compact turbo diesel can power an aircraft. The idea that we would all revert to horses and buggies and live like 17th century settlers, complete with swords and bows, is a bit far fetched.

building the set. I spoke with one of my neighbors who told me that the filming will carry through until April of next year, so they are filming the whole next season. I took some photos, and will post them, if someone will tell me of a better photo hosting site than photobucket, which has changed and now really sux with all the advertising.
