I listened to the Ska stuff as well in the other thread. One thing that strikes me about all of the music you've posted here tonight is that it is very upbeat, happy, and positive sounding. It sounds that way and appears that way from the videos anyway. I don't know if that's due to your choices or that it's a predominant theme in Japanese music.

Also, I don't know if it's because Japanese men are prettier or if the effect was intentional, but there is more of an androgynous look to these bands as far as the men go- not unlike some of our styles from the eighties. As far as the styles go in similar sounding bands in the states go, the look is more masculine- tattoos, muscles and short hair cuts, not as heavy on the make-up.

I like the sound, and that's the important thing. American bands in the same type of genre are darker sounding, but for all I know, your Japanese guys may be singing about nuclear apocalypse and genocide. Somehow, I doubt it, though.
