totally agree about Lafayette. I didn't read the books, but I'm so happy they didn't follow the books when it came to him.
I love Pam too, she kills me. She and Lafayette should be forced to live together. LOL

(2,135 posts)about vampire secret societies, genetic werewolves who live in tribes (who also don't get along with vampires) magic users and ghosts sounds very familiar to me.
I tried to watch and just got too turned off to the similarities and stopped. Then again, I might want to start watching again. After all, it's bound to be better than the one tv show we did get...

(41,990 posts)I read the first, oh, maybe six of those. They're fun, but I enjoy the series. I do have to say, though, they get a bit heavy-handed with the "let's remind them that this is really an allegory for prejudice and the world's discomfort with its differences" allegories. But I'm glad to see everybody and it'll be interesting to see how they wrestle out their conflicting natures.

(3,836 posts)But it is really different than WoD, and I think it's best to enjoy its own paradigm. No one is ever going to make a movie that does WoD justice

(10,952 posts)was not that excited about it. I know that the HBO series will vary from the books but it has just jumped way over the shark. Bill is just not that big a character in the books and Stephen Moyer probably benefitted from his marriage to Anna Paquin with his role being re-written because he married Anna Paquin. Pam has been turned into a whinny creature. Andy has been turned into a joke. The werewolves in the books have a more highly evolved society then the pack in the show where they are portrayed more like trailer trash.
The books provide a more well laid out picture of the supernatural world then the series. And how could they not put Bubba in the HBO show?
