4. In the old comic books, the authors referred to the initials a lot.

Supergirl's secret identity was Linda Lee, at least it was back in the 1960s.

8. It's a subconscious thing.

The name Kal-El in Kryptonian, literally means "Multiple Ls", so subconsciously, Clark was seeking out people with the initials LL.

Also, in Action Comics #734, Clark (when he was still in junior high) learns about a Kryptonian prophecy that said he would lose his virginity to someone with the initials LL. This explains his multiple girlfriends with those initials. But then, as an adult, he finds out that he misinterpreted the prophecy, which in fact said that he would get screwed over by someone with the initials LL--which of course turned out to be Lex Luthor.
