I like how this new fangled tee vee technology lets me predict the weather!

(6,154 posts)Never seen a wall cloud in my life in person but I've seen enough extreme weather on TV and on the internet to know I'd be scarred watching at the kinds of storms you guys get blowing in.
Although I do have experience with tropical storms when I lived in Malaysia. Thing is the types of storms you got there weren't so much these towering, rotating, fucking towers of death you guys get. They were thunder and lightning storms that blew in quickly, dumped a SHIT ton of rain on your and quickly blew out.

(961 posts)We don't get the wicked storms they have on the plains, thankfully! We do get awesome summer thunderstorms with a bit of wind. The best part is hearing the thunder echo down the valleys, bouncing from mountain to mountain. These storms today have helped break the heat and humidity of the past few days. We have had our normal August weather early... again... this year. Becoming the new norm. 8(

(6,154 posts)I miss storms to tell you the truth. I know exactly the feeling you are talking about of having a storm clear out the heat and humidity. When I lived in the tropics storms were a welcome, if sometimes scary sight.
Here's a freaky looking storm that I saw on Youtube some time back. The surprising thing is this is in Finland of all places!
Like a slow motion tidal wave! When the wildlife flees (the birds flying off) it is time to go! Crazy!
Saw something like that driving Illonois one time. Kept looking for the tornado! Huge wall of clouds, looked solid, hard edges and green light.

(16,334 posts)I don't care much about the tee vee but I hate it when the A/C goes and we suffer. Luckily, this was nothing but a quick moving thunderstorm.
The dog ran for cover so I knew something was up.
