Today it was exceptionally boring. For me, today is national boredom day.
Who has some exciting good news?

(68,644 posts)Worked on my May expenses, which always takes time when you lose your car rental receipts or hotel receipts, or can't find the right email for some airfare related thing. And then I procrastinate by eating, napping, taking a walk or visiting a friend.
I have to make two sets of travel plans for June, too- one for Molokai and one for DC, but still didn't do either after having all day to do it.
That is what tomorrow is for!

(18,482 posts)...they start taxing boredom...
...as if boredom wasn't already taxing enough!
I'm here all week!
Sekhmets Daughter
(7,515 posts)or do you operate on a different week?
I don't really know what it is like to be bored. If I can't read, I can usually entertain myself by people watching. If that fails, for lack of subjects, I solve all the world's problems to suit my own personal tastes. I can be quite creative!
If it's not too personal a question... what do you do?
discntnt_irny_srcsm
(18,482 posts)I'm a systems engineer, mostly I write software requirements for embedded processor products.
Bored yet?
As far as the world's problems are concerned, I'm a lottery ticket away from a solution... the rest of you are on your own but if I win big a loan can be arranged.

(7,515 posts)I have no reference points which can guide me in any discussion of systems, embedded processors etc. I have a good friend who is the IT department for a small firm, ...she is forever talking about needing to write this or that... or perform some operation or another. I remain clueless because she can't get basic enough for me! She probably could, but has no patience for it!
The Powerball has been funny...a single winner for a $600 million prize and a 3-way split of $40 million. I have never seen that before. Winning a huge prize on Powerball usually figures into my fantasy when solving the world's problems. That and having extraordinary, even supernatural, powers!

(18,482 posts)Regular week... payday today!
Sekhmets Daughter
(7,515 posts)I could moralize and say stop complaining about boredom, and think how nice it is to have a regular paycheck... but I don't believe that for a moment. When we are stuck someplace we don't find interesting...it is a challenge to remain positive about anything! It's why I go to extremes to avoid the boredom and/or the resentment!

(26,605 posts)Completed a small raft of repetitive bureaucratic tasks, then I watched an IT tech install some software on my computer. Enjoyed a lengthy meeting with colleagues in which we - as a group - carefully revised a set of memos. Came home and ate some leftovers, and then to top it all off, spent the evening not drinking anything but tea since I've been a bit sick for the past few days. Joy!
Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings...

(46,761 posts)I did manage to break my record on the treadmill going an hour with a 3 incline. But afterwards, I proceeded to crash and had to stop at the nearest restaurant to eat something. It was a barbecue rib place. So, tomorrow I start the diet...again.

(18,482 posts)I eat diet cereal, special K. It comes in those 11 ounce single serving boxes.
My exercise consists of the elliptical next to the sliding doors to the yard. Once a week I dust it.

Not a pretty picture.

(7,515 posts)The important thing is, did you get back on your diet today?
Baitball Blogger
(46,761 posts)But, something did get attacked last night. So weird. It was late at night so I couldn't see anything. The bird of prey that attacked the animal sounded orgasmic, while the little guy was screeching. It was either a baby raccoon or baby possum judging by the scat I found this morning.
No signs of blood, so it might have gotten away. But that bird. It flew a victory circle around the community with the same insane whooping call.

I have noticed the squirrel population has dropped, however, and that isn't such a bad thing.

(7,515 posts)squirrels are not my favorite critters... Had them get in an attic once, in NJ, they bring in 'critters' It was a mess.
