lot's of good songs on this sampler. I've gotten samplers before that I was lucky to have 2 or 3 good songs and the rest I guess were good in that now I know not to buy their album. But this one I think nearly every song on it is at least pretty good and some are great. Never heard that Necrowretch before - I liked it.

pressing of blood ritual which is only one of two pieces of vinyl I actually own. It's funny you posted this cause I'm spending the day and night with my step sister and my niece who just turned 18 is showing me all these bands she calls metal and I really don't have the heart to tell her what I think of them

And I'm not saying I don't like all kinds of other music - there's something from most every genre I enjoy...but I'm just real opinionated about my metal. Chances are, if they have the shirt at Hot Topic, I'm not interested...

But it's good to not be a dick about it - you don't want to become "Uncle Richard". My wife's brother is not named Richard but that's what his nephews call him....

Just keep playing them the good stuff and let them realize the difference eventually...hopefully.

sing Sinatra and Dean Martin on occasion. But there was something about these bands maybe it's cause metal is mainly what I listen to. But a couple of them left me wanting to stick a pencil in my ear and rupture my ear drums.

As a dad I have to respect her wishes. I took her to see her favorite band for her 14th birthday for her first concert. It was the Beastie Boys and I enjoyed that show. It's been downhill from there.

at 16 she wanted to see Dragonforce so I took her to Ozzfest. A day full of mostly crap but I did get to hear a little of Strapping Young Lad so it wasn't a complete loss.

I thought I raised her right...She's really into this Volbeat band right now and I am torn - most of their songs sound like typical nu-metal to me but then their last two albums have had a song each with guest vocals by Barney of Napalm Death and King Diamond! What I'm supposed to do with that?! Oh well...she's my daughter and I love her so whatever makes her happy. At least she hates boy bands. (Hell, I like Justin Timberlake more than she does - he's hilarious on SNL)

My niece was showing me this band motionless in white. She starts off by saying they list their influences as type o negative, king diamond, immortal, mayhem, emperor, behemoth. So anyway I'm like ok let's listen well it was nothing like any of those bands in fact it kinda reminded me of slipknot mixed with those emo vocals
