Danger lurked around the corner

It was not a game for Luna. The constant harassment by Keebler, the white ninja, was pushing her to the edge of neurosis. Although she could not see her tormentor, her heightened sense of danger, finely honed by years of warding off the persistent attacks, alerted her to the fact that she was once again placed into a life or death situation.

If she stayed she would be trapped. If she ran, Keebler would chase her. The dread that enveloping Luna was like a dense fog, clouding her judgement. Fight or flight ... or remain frozen in hopes Keebler would tire and retreat in boredom.

Suddenly there was a click. Keebler's ears pricked up and the heartless assassin turned and walked towards the sound.

Sensing that this was the moment, the split second that Keebler was distracted, Luna quietly slipped out of harm's way. Another confrontation had been avoided but when would the next one come. Later in the day? Tomorrow? She knew it was only a matter of time. But for now she would enjoy the reprieve and go lie in the sun spot that streamed through the window and warmed the tiles. Her eyes closed and she dreamed of better days.

I just saw a cat that looked very much like the white ninja at my vet's office. While paying for a few cans of canine diet, the Keebler look alike jumped up on the counter in front of me, and pointed out exactly which variety of treats that I would be most happy to open up and feed to him.

The blue package...not the green ones!

I told him I was not authorized to supplement his diet.
