Terrence Malick: Love or Loathe?

Just saw The New World (about the Jamestown colony). Saw The Tree of Life no too long ago.

Not sure what to make of him yet.

I will say one thing: He's very distinctive.

His movies seem to feature a lot of whispery voice-overs, shots of open nature, fields, trees, people running and playing. Dialogue is minimalistic for the most part.

Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on him, positive or negative.

are masterpieces.

Badlands and Days of Heaven.

After Days of Heaven he went twenty years before making his third film.

His is an artistic approach. I liked Tree of Life.

definitely not pop corn movies or escapism .

I've watched the tree of life 4 times and still get new things from it that grab me .

Days Of Heaven one of my all time favorites. I saw it in a theater in 70mm and people were literally gasping at the imagery.
