Let's say you won a contest, and can go on a date with Rachel Maddow.

Anyplace you want.
(Within reason, naturally.)

Where would you take her?

Me, I'd invite her up to my Mom's place in WI's Oconto county and we'd go fishing.
Rachel loves going fishing.

They may be mostly panfish, but they sure are fun to catch, and being with Rachel would be delightful company.

I mean if it's a "work date" or a "lunch" then awesome! I would love that!

But even if I were a female, she does have a significant other...which means it would be a bad idea to try and steal her...

I guess the answer is: define date?

I go out with friends, my husband goes out with friends. Sometimes we go out with each other with the other's friends, sometimes not.

As a married woman, I'd enjoy an evening with Rachel Maddow (though my husband would insist on coming along since he enjoys her intellect, too). I'd also enjoy going out with Chris Hayes, Lawrence O'Donnell and maybe even Ed Schultz, even though they are all married.

My major worry would be that I do not clean up well and whether I could hold up my end of the conversation! Oh - and whether Rachel would be offended that I wouldn't drink with her since I don't drink.

ETA - I forgot - I'd take Rachel down to the coast to a good seafood restaurant.

Just spending a few hours or a day with Rachel, having fun, no romance or sex, and with Rachel it'll be one heckuva good conversation too.

LOVE to go on a date with Rachel Maddow!

I'd probably 'do the town' with her, the town being Seattle. Breakfast in a cafe on Queen Anne Hill. Check out the scene on Broadway. Really gay-friendly up there, so I know she'd feel comfortable. Tour Seattle Center, and all the really cool museums, The Experience Music Project, The Museum of Science Fiction, etc. Over to the Ave by UW for lunch at Aladdin's or Schulze's. A walk in Gasworks Park. Check out the Fremont Troll. Shop the cool places in Ballard. Dinner at the top of the Needle. A play at the Bagley Wright, The Intiman, or The Empty Space. Then music and dancing at a cool club, late into the night...

I would accompany her to any concert of her choice and then she would go with me to see Bolt Thrower in Chicago this summer.

This is only partly because I don't expect to get to go see Bolt Thrower in Chicago this summer unless some awesome TV star news lady takes me. I don;t mean to be ungentlemanly and make her pay - I was figuring the production company and/or whatever organization was responsible for setting up this fantasy would pay.

We have a group up here called the Kootenai County Reagan Republicans. Their current hobby is politicizing the nonpartisan races - they are running Reagan Republican Approved Candidates in the upcoming hospital trustee election. To watch Rachel tell people who worship Reagan enough to name their club after him what a piece of work he was would be the high point of the decade.

After that I would make her my special patent pending noodleless lasagna.

She introduced herself with, "Hi, I'm Rachel." Like I didn't know who she was!! LOL She was seeing her parents off back home.

She said that her parents had not taken it well when she told them she was gay, but after she left, they told me they were very proud of her now (I would be, too!).

I use to take my 3rd grade daughter to pioneer cemeteries. We learned so much. She practiced math, we learned about epidemiology, and of course, local history. The dead can tell you much, if you just listen.

If she had wanted, she would have made a fine archaeologist.
