I have torticollis but I still want to take the risk of draft in the bedroom so that the sheets get like so-there perfectly cool and airy in the room. So I will use a hot water bottle and put it on the pillow for a while. Goodnight.OriginalGeek

(1,353 posts)i post scientific facts of great worth on FB. Such as: A group of scientists did a study and determined that indeed, Nebraska IS flatter than a pancake. Or: fun fact...the US is the world's largest exporter of human sperm. And the first photograph of someone giving the photographer "the finger" was a player on the Boston Red Sox in the 1880's. So there! I'll accept trifling, but never inane. ;->

(27,630 posts)it got one or 2 "likes" and a couple of people commenting "goodnight" back to her.
We just quietly sigh and shake our heads and return the friendly greeting. So, I suppose that's nice.

(12,595 posts)Sometimes we really are interested in the minutia of someone's life - especially if they are family and especially if they live far away and the only time you "see" them is on Facebook.
This, of course, includes our DU family

(4,447 posts)I post inane shit on Facebook. It's kind of what it's for, in my opinion.

(4,447 posts)I did put up a status last week that said I was down to my last pair of underwear, so I needed to do laundry. Mildly entertaining, and definitely inane!

(4,851 posts)Its for posting things that you feel like posting. Do you think the world thinks pictures of kids playing baseball or in Halloween Costumes is not "inane shit?" Or picture of what someone is having for dinner? Or a banner that you supprt gay rights, woman's rights, children's rights, Aids awareness, autism or whatever issue you care about.
Its Facebook, it is all "inane shit" to some people and incredibly interesting to others, and most of us think just about everything falls somewhere between those two.
I am amazed by people who complain about what they see on Facebook.

(27,630 posts)I love facebook. But you must admit, that post was pretty inane.
I'm thankful she posted it actually, because it gave me a laugh!

(4,851 posts)this just triggered some feelings I have and I should not have accused you of complaining when you clearly were not. that was wrong of me and I am sorry.
I also enjoy facebook. Some stuff seems silly to me, but I use the filters and block people who just post pictures of cats and political rants. There is a lot of inane shit on facebook, but lots of it I find either entertaining or generally interesting to me. I like that facebook lets me stay in touch with friends I might otherwise never talk to, even if it is just a quick "like" or comment.

(27,630 posts)It just got funnier the more I read it. Unintentionally funny. I suppose I should have a little empathy for her, suffering from torticollis and all...
Anyway, have you tried the Social Fixer app? You can hide posts "mark as read" with one click.
