For those that have kids and are grown

How many babysitters have you used for your kid until you didn't need them?

Provide a response for the child that you used the most babysitters.

It's a whole new construct that supports the ...

TWO SLAVE HOUSEHOLD.

There, I said it. Two cars in every garage, yeah, how about two parents earning wages?

And, lets get rid of the multi-generation household concept (actually the norm until the 50's).

Now I'm done. I have little data to contribute to the post.

grrrrr.

My wife and I balanced out our work schedules so one of us was usually at home, so we didn't need a babysitter all that much. Plus, we couldn't go out and do much because we were raising three kids and we were always broke.

She was on the only baby around so everone wanted to play with her and take her everywhere.

When she was just a baby we took her to the Arizona State fair dressed in a little harlequin outfit my wife made for her. Once my friends found out she was a chick magnet they were fighting over who got to hold her.

I don't think she touched the ground for the first couple of years.

about the same age as my younger brother and youngest sister, they spent a lot of time together, either at my mom's house, or all of them at my house.

So my mom babysat a lot for my kids. But so did I for my brother and sister.

In fact my two youngest siblings were almost like my own kids.

but a few times after I was separated but still in the reserves, I had a neighbor watch her so I wouldn't get locked up for being awol. (no family in state)

When my daughter was a little older (first grade) and I was out of the reserves, I needed a sitter a couple times. I had a coworker who was Deaf, I used her as a babysitter just to expand my daughter's world a bit. I was super lucky to have that option.

We had grandparents nearby for the occasional night out or short vacation.

There are "play-dates" and "staying at Grandma's" and "going to the cousin's" and "going to school" and things like that, but babysitter? Not sure what that is.

It was such a patchwork. I was glad when she turned 13.

Oh and I am a Nurse and most of this was to be able to work. So much of my pay went to babysitters. I hated the fact that if my work was so vital, why couldn't I get a sitter.
