How does Pandora work?

I don't want to download it until I know how it works. I guess I'm behind the times . . .

On a laptop or desktop just launch Pandora in a browser window and sign up.

As to how it works - Well, let's just say - Much magic.

Spotify is more of an app and a bit more complicated.

I've got Pandora One - the $36/year no ads version on an iPhone, an iPad and my laptop.

Well worth the money.

That's what I've been doing with it. And it's easier to manage your stations and music selection on the laptop.
