read the book and saw both the Swedish & American versions of the film. I went with him to see the American version. I asked him the differences between the two films. His immediate reaction was that in the Swedish film, the heroine was more complex and in the American version she was more dynamic. In the story both films covered it (story) about the same.

and loved them because evidently they were shown as a six part miniseries with a lot of extra footage.

The star doesn't act like Lisbeth. She IS Lisbeth.

Now, it's hooked up to a Dish satellite receiver, but trial and error has shown that it's not the Dish remote, it's the t.v. and/or its remote.

Maddening. Sometimes the captioning is out of sync with the spoken word, lagging behind, and I've caught myself turning off my ears and reading along with the captions.

Otoh, lots of times my hearing misses whispered dialog, so it helps that way.

my vision is poor enough that I need to see foreign films in a theater. Sadly, I live in a rural area which makes that next to impossible.

Very much enjoyed the books & even the English language version.
