In Idaho. All the am stations are right wing propaganda and I used to faithfully listen to Coast to Coast at night to fall asleep. In the morning the local jock comes on until 9, then it was limbaugh and I would turn it off.

Sometimes I'd listen a short time and become irate. One day he disparaged DU and I used my son's computer to find it. After that I gave my son some money and he built me a computer for just me. Not for the damned games though he still had some of his stuff on my machine. That was in 2005. I was the last democrat to get on the net.

I too, used to listen to C2C, and the new host, well he sucked. I found a website that offered nightly critiques devoted to his suckage. The rest of that website was pretty much right wing crazy talk.

They deleted our little thread, and I had to move on. It took a while to find DU, but now I'm here.

During the contested outcome of Al Frankens 2008 Senatorial win by the butt-munch Franken replaced,I constantly searched for updated info.
Eventually I ran across a website devoted to Franken, his campaign, election win,the efforts to deny that win,and was named after Franken.
Many threads there, concerning all manner of rethuglicon douchebaggery, linked to other sites, including this one, which I followed.

Here I am.

Sadly, the site through which I discovered DU,while still in operation, has become a cliquish parody of what it began as,with a small handful of posters effectively running off those who don't tightly mesh with their views. Some there, will disregard a posters point, even when in support or agreement with their own and instead, obsess with attacking and nitpicking wording.I see that here too, though it isn't as obvious as it is with just with the dozen or so regulars at the other place.

That is because the old forum I was in http://www.commongroundcommonsense.org/forums died.

So, I finally gave in and joined, especially since it was an election year and I needed a place to keep my political fix that was not completely barraged by extreme right wing stupidity.

first got on line in about 2000, there was a small discussion group affiliated with my local dial-up internet provider. spent some time arguing politics with folks there. I had quit watching teevee some years before and was pretty ignorant of things. this one clown started going on about Ann Coulter and her new book, so I was looking up things about her and came across the top 10 (among much else) then found Bob Boudelange (or however it was spelled) and eventually found the actual discussion forums (heh) and started posting - I joined in Feb of 2004 and was so glad to be here for the heartbreak of the Nov election. I was pretty bereft that winter. So glad to have this place to commiserate and read with other Dems. I live in a pretty red area.
