(72,300 posts)I've always wanted a Bull Mastiff and an Irish Wolfhound. That's not going to happen.

(8,462 posts)My favorite breed, but is it skipper-key or shipper-ker or schipp-per-keh.

My favorite breed itself is the noble basset hound

(3,502 posts)It's a great dog name and would also work well for a southern rock, country or bluegrass band.

(17,087 posts)I suspect that a breeder gave up for adoption because they didn't want to breed her, and she was too cute. Her right rear just goes out and she picks her leg up for a minute, or just sits down. She's started bunny hopping a lot more as she ages, too. I had her x-rayed when it first became apparent and the vet said it was just a shallow hip socket and to "keep an eye on it". Since there's no money to fix it, we cope.

(22,163 posts)I give Cindy the Level 2 for Hip and Joint from this site. www.thepaws.com
It really seems to help her, she hasn't gotten worse and this has been going on for about four years. I also give her two fish oil capsules per day. We also have an ACD who is the same age, but no hip problems. I give him a small dose of each so he doesn't feel left out.

(17,087 posts)I also switched to a feed that has a supplement, Pedigree, I think. She doesn't eat it though, as long as leftovers are a possibility.
It's not very bad, she can go a month without me noticing she has a problem, and then two or three times in a week. Same as since she was a pup.

(107 posts)Ours are Splash, Rainy and Beau. All three are blue merle and good cow dogs. Splash knows what a cow is going to do before she does.

(17,087 posts)I like their names, too. It's nice that Catahoulas are still working dogs out there. Mine works her way from the couch to the bed and back, with tennis ball sessions in between.
Catahoulas are the best!
