A. Love James Franco
B. I usually agree with Roger Ebert; Richard Roeper gave it a great review: http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20130320/REVIEWS/130329996
C. A Baptist College newspaper slammed it: http://hbucollegian.com/?p=10921
My husband is on the fence--he likes James Franco more than the Disney girls in it (we loved Pineapple Express ) so I may go solo to a matinee this week while he's at work and the kids are at school.
Sometimes I do a movie night with some other Moms in the neighborhood (last one was Silver Linings Playbook which I picked) but I don't think this one would be up their alley.

(12,723 posts)I did like Gummo and this does look interesting except for all the bikini wearing but still, maybe.
That review is not by Mr. Ebert but rather Richard Roeper. Ebert broke his hip (I think) a few months ago and we now get a lot of guest reviewers and usually one review a week from Ebert himself. Easy enough to miss as Roeper comes closest to Ebert's style, at least among the various guest reviewers he is using.

(5,909 posts)I saw Kids at the theater when it came out--the director wrote that movie. That was tough to watch.

(46,337 posts)First off, the picture is of a guy in those ugly shorts pointing guns at the heads of two girls in bikinis, the one on the right has a cigarette in her hand.
Then the review says the kids go to let it all hang out before returning to their "drab lives in Kentucky."
Not to mention there will be scenes of doing dope, drinking to excess, the usual "spring break movie."
To sum it up... pure shit.
