grilled zuchinni, black bean salsa, mozzarella and Dubliner cheeses on a gluten free pizza shell. Really, really good.

(5,364 posts)Anchovy pie: Love it love, love it love it! Next choice is just plain cheese pie. Even though I now live in the south I'm lucky to have several places from NY natives that make real pie.
Only thing is the "NYC pizza" monicker: I mean, is there any other kind of pizza? ( OK, Chicago has a distinctive style I recognize and respect, if not favor ) I always laugh when around the country I see signs promoting "NY style" pizza. It's freakin' pizza dammit! Anything else is crappy knockoff or chain garbage.

(3,502 posts)Not only is there Chicago pizza, which is of long standing, but the advent of gourmet pizza makes it necessary to be clear. Otherwise you might find yourself confronted with something with an artisan crust and fresh mozzarella, which is unsuitable for baked deliciousness, or maybe no mozzarella at all, topped with things you would never find in a proper pizzaria.

Made by my mom or grandma is a plus. My non-Italian husband does a bang-up job too. We're Jersey folk. We don't tolerate pizza from too many places

Simply the best. Hope they never go cheap and change. (but I don't get there often anymore, and it's not on my diet.
And you need lots of napkins, because it is messy.

(3,502 posts)A really good slice of pizza is messy. Cheese, oil. Oh, Jesus Christ on breadstick I'm getting hungry and there is nothing that good here in the house.

(14,400 posts)Since moving to CT I've developed a real taste for white pizza with clams. Luckily my kids don't like it so it's almost all mine.
The one at Frank Pepe in New Haven is delicious but there are quite a few places around here that can make it well.
