Post scenes from TV series' where you first realized "this show is going to be GREAT!"

LOST - "Don't tell me what I can't do!" from the episode "Walkabout." The cinematography and the acting was superb in this scene. LOST went from being a weird new show to something truly special. Many new show have since tried to be the "new LOST" but they've all failed where LOST succeeded: it's characters and making you actually care about them.

West Wing - "I am the Lord your God" from the pilot episode. The West Wing hit the ground running with an excellent introduction to President Bartlet.

from the second season episode The Long Twilight when a fool's sad longings for lost glory manifest in the bombardment of an entire planet. This was an event the entire series had been leading up to from day one even if we did not know it.

That is the exact scene I thought of first when I read this thread title! I was about to post it when I scrolled down and saw yours.

Cooper's Dream Sequence from Twin Peaks. I only watched this show for the first time last year. Can't believe I missed it before.

Yeah, it flowers up the past quite a bit, but the concept and lead-in were remarkable for a show exposing so much of the absolute poison of our media:

First episode aired climatic scene:

Actually they had me at:

But it was the first episode aired and the way they played out Dr. McCoy's realization that his old college sweetheart was not human that got me hooked.

That's when I knew TWW was going to be a once-in-a-generation TV show.

The first four seasons, with Aaron Sorkin at the helm, were some of the best television in broadcast history.

I thought they captured the feel of the books, even though they condensed the scene.
