I'm starting to wonder what lua I pissed off. He'll be fine but it's a flare up of a chronic "abdominal migraine" which makes him so sick he ends up in the ER and an overnight. And though I'm doing fine I've about had it. Here's the recap:
Christmas: 88 y o mil nearly dies of flu
New Year: Mr Bear hospitalized w/ angina
First week of Jan. Mr Bear back in for stent.
Day he gets out a friend falls off a cliff and dies.
Mother in law back in with COPD.
Another friend has a stroke.
Mother in law third trip in.
And today's excursion.
I'm glad there are hospitals, really I am, but could a girl get a little breathing room?
Thanks for letting me whine.

(149,627 posts)You're not whining. This post is more than perfectly appropriate! I mean, my God, how much more can you take? You need a break, and so does your family...
Please take care of yourself, sweetie...

(22,845 posts)I hope he gets better fast and that this is the last time you'll see the inside of a hospital for a loooong time.
What a long list of medical situations you've had. I've never heard of anything like it.

(2,173 posts)I managed to pull through eventually (and am typing so I'm assuming I'm alive). But we had some really close calls. Even when I was out of it, I somehow knew she was there and I often wonder if that isn't the only reason I pulled through. My thoughts are with you.

I believe that it's much harder to be on the other side... to have those you care about have misfortunes --
and especially at the rate you've been subjected to recently.

That was no whining. Know that you are loved and can count on support from here WHENEVER you need

(944 posts)You deserve some peace, and time away from the hospital.
Good health for yourself, family, and friends. And some wine too, if you're so inclined.

(41,984 posts)Some days are long. But if all goes as expected they'll turn him loose tomorrow and it'll be back to normal just in time for Mr. Bear to go cross country for his father's 90th birthday. I'd go too if so much hadn't happened that I've been back there just recently.
There is one nagging worry that it seems appropriate to air on DU. Little son will be 26 in two weeks. He works part time while going to school and, well, no insurance, and won't be eligible for ours any more. This will be worrisome. I think we're going to try to do a Cobra until next year when he can't be turned down because of pre-existing (thanks to President Barack Freaking Obama!!) but then we have to figure out how to deal with a chronic condition that runs about $10,000 a pop. Crap, I wish we could figure a way out of this. Hopefully he'll finish school and get that physical trainer career going. God, I love these people. It shouldn't be so hard to stay alive and healthy.
Ah, guys. You've been great friends. Thank you.
