( Little Feat at the height of it's potency, with the Tower of Power horn section)
Is it the lies?
Is it the style?
It's a mercenary territory
I wish you knew the story
I've been out here so long
Dreamin up songs
I'm temporarily qualmless and sinking
I've did my time in that rodeo
It's been so long
And I've got nothing to show
Well I'm so plain loco
Fool that I am I'd do it all over again
Is it the style?
Is it the lies or the days and the nights
I'm sorrys n' the fights
Now some kind of man
He can't do anything wrong
If I see him I'll tell him you're waiting
'Cause I'm devoted for sure
But my days are a blur
Well your nights turn into my mornings
I did my time in that rodeo
Fool that I am I'd do it all over again
Is it love?
Keeps you waiting so long
Makes you say I'll see you around
Or those forces that be
Just does don't see
How my nights turn into your mornings
Is it the style?
Is it the lies or the days and the nights
I'm sorrys n' the fights
Or the style?
Or the days and the nights
I'm sorrys n' the fights ?
Known you so long
Is that what makes so. . . . . ,
High mmmm . . . . . . . . . . . ,
Fool that I am, I'd do it all over again. . .

Waiting For Everyman
(9,385 posts)Good at camp parties, or where there's no electricity, or just for the fun of it. It's good to be able to bring the music yourself, when necessary. (That's a tradition here, most of my family and friends are musicians.)
I relate to "Willin" because I had an era like that in my life, and it roughly coincided with the song's release -- once drove round trip coast to coast three times in a month. It was a silly thing to do, but a lot of fun. But in my younger years I did one hell of a lot of driving (back when gas was @ 30 cents a gallon, pre-gas-crisis).
Is "Crazy" the same one as by Patsy Cline? If so, (a little trivia) her "hangout bar" was about 15 miles from where I live (Brunswick, MD, right on the Potomac River). As a kid up here in the boonies (Frederick MD), I used to hear her tunes on the local radio all the time. Love that song! So, sad. I guess we've all "been there", at some time or another.

(2,173 posts)Well, "saw" might be a strong word. An old friend and I hooked up in the parking lot and she gave me some hash brownies. I at least HEARD them play.
