I choose Paris. Long ago I dated a young lady from Honey Grove (just outside Paris), and have wonderful memories of spending an afternoon in and about Paris with her family.

(and, as small TX towns go, it's far enough north to get snow in the winter-- something we in DFW only dream about).

I imagine Dancer is nice, but it doesn't smell like TX (I think most Texans know what that means)

I have neither been to Paris, Texas, or seen the movie (and I have the DVD!) I plan to pull it out when my GF gets here in a week or so. Hopefully, she'll agree to watch it

I saw part of Dancer, TX and liked it, but yeah, it didn't seem like it was really a Texas town.

that it was directed by Wim Wenders. My favorite movie of his is "Der Himmel uber Berlin" ("Wings of Desire&quot although "Until the End of the World" is great, too

Reminds me of when I was watching Thor recently and how you've got this similarly tiny town, and all of a sudden there is vehicle and people traffic all over (to show Thor getting honked at as he obliviously walks in the street.) I've never seen that much traffic in towns ten times that size! Sometimes that kind of thing is too dumb to believe in an otherwise good film.

if I ever had to live in a town of 81 people I would become paranoid...they all know everything it seems. I need the anonymity of a city or the indifference of the suburbs...or the solitude of a 600 acre spread!

While I grew up in the suburbs of Houston (and now live well inside the city limits) I could live in the country if I also didn't know or see my neighbors. Just get decent Internet connection, and the world becomes our neighborhood

What I've read about the movie is that it doesn't take place in Paris, Texas. It's a reference to some bit in the story (I don't know if it's a spoiler, so I won't say...)

From the sounds of what Lanternwaste stated above, it's a nicer part of Northeast Texas and probably worth a look one of these years

Spring is just naturally going to be cooler. No, it won't be "high altitude cool" but it's not going to be summer!

Short of calling the park rangers and asking them firsthand, I can't really tell you what you want to know. However, I can tell you that it's beautiful in the Spring, same with the Davis Mountains

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mentone,_Texas

Mentone is an unincorporated area in Loving County, Texas, which is the least populous county in the United States. As the county's only community, it serves as the county seat and has a 2010 population of 19, almost one-fourth of the county's 82 people.

Here's another source on Texas you might like, with Mentone's page.

This is the Texas town name that always made me laugh, especially at how it was named: Whon
Now, pronounce that as it looks. What else sounds like "whon"? If you guessed the following, you gotta wonder about the intelligence of the founders:

Its name is an Anglicized version of Juan, the name of a Mexican cowboy who once lived on the McCain Ranch.
