The tech support guy needs some tech support. HDMI issues

Once upon a time, I had a Sony sound system, a Sony game system, and a Toshiba TV. There was a HDMI cord running from the PS3 to the receiver, and then another running from the receiver to the TV.

And the magic hdmi linking happened, despite the tv being of a different brand, and lo and behold, the three items were the best of friends, linking in beautious menage a trois on a regular basis. When the PS3 was turned on, all of the other electronic devices followed its surge into led light life. And when a button was pressed to change the volume, it worked for both the TV and receiver, so that only one remote was necessary.

And then the gloriously doomed remodeling happened, during which time the items were disconnected, and the receiver was left out of the holy trinity for a week. And became jealous in its loneliness.

When the three were reunited in their newly painted, far more sanely designed home, things were no longer the same. For when one device was turned on, the others would spurn its advances. And the when one yelled loudly, the lowered volume of another no longer had any moderating effect. And sadly, when the receiver is turned off, it allows no signal to pass from the PS3 unto the TV, blocking them from any private time whatsoever. And this persisted despite

Anyone got any idea how to fix this?

In this home, my DVR/Receiver and my DVD player/burner only have one HDMI jack each, and the same then on my TV. So, instead of crawling behind them every time I wanted to use one or the other to swap cables I finally got a switch box.

Of course, everything would be so much better if all boxes had at least two HDMI jacks each, so we could just daisy-chain everything and keep the madhouse of cables in check

The receiver has 3-4 HDMI inputs. The TV has 4 that Ive found so far. Along with 2-4 each of just about every type of input you can imagine.

Theres one cable from the PS3 to the reciever. And one more from the reciever to the TV. just as it used to be. But suddenly, and without having changed any settings, they wont talk to each other. Its definitely what you would call a first world problem, complaining about having to use too many remotes. But here I am.

Whenever I lose power for a length of time I have to reset a lot of parameters in the receiver and a few on the PS3.

I have a Toshiba TV also but I do not think there are any settings there that can cause this.

Check the receiver does it have an HDMI bipass? And is everything on the same output, example tv on 1080i, rec on 1080p. Or something like that its early for my brain lol

But all three have relatively simple settings. And ive twiddled with all of them in a vain attempt to knock loose whatever is causing the hitch.

Any specific setting ideas?

My fear is that something in one of the PS3 updates has ruined its ability to talk to the others properly. Trying to ask the question on the sony website is impossible, as its glitching out every time I try to post there. Very frustrating.

My amp hates it when the TV is off. I have to turn on things in the sequence TV (wait a few seconds), amp (wait a few seconds), Satellite box, or nothing works right.

is that we can get back to the glory times when turning on the PS3 automatically activated the others with it.
