How are you doing?

Me? I'm doing well. I've been going to school half time and working full time. This is my third semester back and I'm getting 'A's. If I continue half time and go every semester, including summer, I'll finish up in December of 2015. I cannot wait. I'm a 40 year old trucker. I've been doing that for 16 years and I think that's 15 years too long. I want to be a business man. My ultimate goal is to own a business, but for a while after graduation I'll probably be working on the management side in a trucking company.

My wife Jen is doing well also. We're still trying to have a child. You may remember that Jen suffered a miscarriage last summer. Other than a little frustration in things not taking hold again yet, she is happy now. We are happy with each other. We want to have one child- getting too old to make more than that. We both never married until we met each other and there are no children from previous relationships. I guess we got off to a late start in this marriage stuff, but I prefer to think of it as just skipping the first marriage that half of Americans have that doesn't turn out well.

So much going on. I remember when my life was uneventful and boring. That's a sad state for your life to be in. Don't let it happen to you. I woke up one day and decided I needed to shake things up. I don't regret it a bit and I don't want to return to the way things were. I'm looking forward now, not back. There will be plenty of time for reflecting when I get to be old.

So, how are you?

Been fighting a cold all week, and I have to knock it down so they don't postpone the eye surgery I have scheduled in about 9-10 days.

Just got laid off and don't know what to do next.

Losing my living quarters in the next month or so, so the news above is the last thing I wanted to hear, of course. Was just starting to get caught up and now somebody moved the fucking goal posts again.

You know I've got a place available for lease, a small condo for cheap. But I see you are in Washington and my condo is in Ohio. If you are up for a change in scenery we might be able to help each other out. I have a woman coming to look at it this weekend. If she doesn't go for it, it will be fair game. $450 a month, 1 bedroom 1 bath, a/c, you pay electric.

I"m doing pretty well......started driving a couple of days ago, and it feels really good. I still don't have a lot of energy, but it's coming.

I got another poem published.......have a look!

I think you and Jen are being very intelligent about your lives and plans. I'm proud of you! And I look forward to that one child, and to some sort of version of your Stories From The Road.

You have grown so much in your writing. I remember when you first started experimenting with the art form and now here you are a pro. I remember when you used to post a lot more poems here in the lounge. I think I probably understand why you don't now.

The Stories from the Road series that I've shared with you all has grown to book length, although it needs editing. I have edited the stories to the point where most of them just need one more edit to fix structural problems. But, you know, I just don't have much time for it now and my will is lacking. It might seem strange, but as soon as I met Jen the stories stopped coming so easily for me. I guess I no longer sat around reflecting on the old times and turned my mind elsewhere.

I understand about your stories. The thing is, now you've got them written down, and they'll keep. One day you'll have the time and inclination to work on them, and so you will.

I dig your stuff as well. I've gotten a lot of belly laughs from some of the stuff you've posted.

I'm doing pretty good, even if I had to make up some work hours this morning. Still got some shows to watch on the DVR, like the latest Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode, and another episode of Ripper Street

I retired this past year (no choice; had to either take early retirement or move to Atlanta. Didn't want to do that.). Turned out to be a pretty good thing, finally got some time to do some things I've wanted to do for a long time, like fix up my decrepit old house. Right now I have a horrible case of bronchitis - I worry about horking up a lung, and I have laryngitis on top of it and I feel like crap. But at least I don't have to worry about going to work, except for a part-time teaching job with a fair amount of flexibility. So it could be worse.

I'm glad things are going well for you - finishing that degree will be a huge deal; you won't regret the effort.
