First the top dips into the syrup, then I pull it back and continue to saw but before I get to 360 the syrupy top flips forward and splashes me or someone else.

This is specifically a brownbag lunch scenario, by the way. At home I'd cut around part way then pour it out into a different bowl or onto my cereal. No problem.
