I showed the picture to my daughter last summer, and for my birthday she gave me a miniature one very much like it that she had a friend of hers build for me. I'm now making a diorama featuring my crooked house.

other times I'd like to be in a place like where we lived when I was born. A big old pre-war NYC apartment. Realistically, I'll die here in the 'burbs. (55,011 posts)the structure could use a LOT of repair and improvement, but it is a 120 year old ranch house - half adobe and the back half is a frame structure moved in place with a team of mules by my great grandfather.

(716 posts)I know most people probably don't feel that way, but I hate moving so I try to be selective. At least for the foreseable lifetime of my wife and I this should suit us well. The place before this one was sub-optimal, but we hit the market at a good time and scored a nice place at a good price. And we've got enough land (not that much) for a garden and to let the dogs run. It's enough for us.
The one thing I've never considered, or comprehended for that matter, is living in a flat in a major city. I need grass. I need plants. I need to see birds other than pigeons. This works for us.
