i have a GREAT site for anyone taking anything from a daytrip to a seasonal sabbatical

http://www.roadsideamerica.com/

.
It will show you major points of interest but, more importantly, lesser-or-little-known
interesting stops from weird to seriously historical and/or beautiful.
.
One of the best vacations I ever took was a peripheral trip around Arizona using this
site as a trip planner.
.
I can virtually guarantee you'll enjoy a vacation/daytrip using this site -- you can
cherrypick and specialize to YOUR particular tastes.

Enjoy.

I've seen some amazing and some not so amazing things. One of the best parts of it is that it gets you off the Interstates for awhile.
