Right now, I'm pretty weak and sleepy. They zapped me with the shock paddles (defibrillator) this
afternoon. They give you "conscious sedation" for that -- kind of a relaxed hypnotic state so that
you're separated from the experience (it IS unpleasant) and don't remember it.
.
Great news. It worked and my heart rate is regular again -- and all the way down to the low 70's.
.
I need to build up my strength/stamina again, but I think I may very well be home again by
tomorrow or Saturday.
.
YEEEEEEHHHHHAAAAAAA!!!!!!

(149,626 posts)Well, I sure am glad I'm still up to hear this great news!
That is wonderful, on all fronts. Now, if we can just get your heart rhythm to STAY normal!
Have a great sleep!

They're adjusting my meds. In the hospital, to help get my heart back into rhythm, they
pump me full of IV amniodorone(sp) and they're unsure why they've never sent me HOME
with a maintenance regimen of oral amniodorone. They will now.
.
Plus, they're upping my dosage of Lasix (Furosemide) -- my YOU-GO-NOW pill. Part of my
problem has been excess fluid retention (I'm on fluid restrictions BUT I live in the freakin'
desert and have to watch for dehydration).
.
So I think they're paying more attention now on sending me home and KEEPING me home.
.
.
.
They DID remind me that this would cut down drastically on the frequency of my tagteam
bedbaths... and then they all left the room quickly.
.
It's still true -- nobody likes to see a grown man cry.

(112,207 posts)They pay the hospital based upon the outcome (get you out of the hospital and keeping you out) instead of being paid for all the individual procedures.
Great news for you and I hope that everything continues to go well. This place isn't nearly as fun without your posts.
