Before Feb. 18, I will delete all my photobucket images.
If you like any of my pics, save them now.

(149,699 posts)I'm not happy with where they're going either...
Ptah
(33,037 posts)Maybe nothing.
MrMickeysMom
(20,453 posts)I've used them intermittently, I know you'd use them more.
Is it going fee based, or just getting more complicated, like I've noticed over the past year?
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,699 posts)They are pushing the technical stuff: use their photoshop stuff, make albums, tell stories, crap like that. I just want a simple place to house my pictures.
I don't get why they're doing all these changes, either.
And it's pissing me off.
MrMickeysMom
(20,453 posts)If so, do tell.

(149,699 posts)But you do need some sort of photo hosting site to post pics here...
I will miss your pictures....
Ptah
(33,037 posts)Now it takes three clicks.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,699 posts)Are you including getting into Photobucket?

(38,326 posts)Is something bad going to happen with all the old DU1 and DU2 pictures I have there?
(My current pictures are hosted on my own site.)
Ptah
(33,037 posts)I'm disappointed with the photobucket.com changes.
hunter
(38,326 posts)... and photobucket would sometimes delete them.
I strive to be "fair use" and no more than mildly risqué but photobucket and I draw that line in different places.

... literally deleting a funny and simple cartoon I'd found about "plumber's crack" as "inappropriate".

...resisted going over to the "new" Photobucket as of yet. It takes a LOT of work for me to do
what I do (at least HOW I do it) and the site increases that work by about 300% with its glitches.
.
While putting together my picture posts, I have to restart and restart Photobucket and reboot my
computer once or twice or else I freeze up every couple of downloads.
.
I thought maybe it was my amount of storage -- I do have over 11,000 pictures, but I did my best
to reduce as many as possible to <100 kb, so I only have 288MB of storage used (2% of my possible
10GB.
.
What does everybody see wrong with the new Photobucket?
.
What are suggestions for other photo storage sites?
.

.
Thanks.

(20,453 posts)What a picture!
Orrex
(63,224 posts)It used to be that I would upload PICTURE01.JPG and I would get a URL ending in PICTURE01.JPG.
Now it's PICTURE0165464098479809674809878049849849098453235748941016.JPG, and consecutive images uploaded in a series don't produce consecutive URLs.
It's a pain in the ass with no discernible benefit for the user.

(63,224 posts)I first discovered them screwing with URLs a few months ago. I can find out the exact date that I noticed it if you want, because I posted on another forum to complain about it at the time.
Ever since then they've messed with the filename for every image I've uploaded, and there have been many dozens.

(7,875 posts)I imagine it has to do with people posting their nudie pictures in private albums. The album may be private, but if you can find the URL you can still see the picture. There was a whole perv culture dedicated to finding these pix. There was some name for the practice, although I don't remember what it was- But if you knew someone's username you could create a simple program to automate the URL-trying procedure. There were whole web forums dedicated to sharing links to people's naughty photos.
I imagine this new URL format is to make it more difficult to do that.

(206,016 posts)Since I've been using this laptop, I keep getting sent there and I just can't navigate it. I don't know what I'm going to do, either, learned how to use it when I first joined DU and didn't know how to post pics, so some helpful DUers sent me there. Since then, I've saved all sorts of pix there, from when my dog was a puppy to new ones I've uploaded from my phone. It was incredibly easy, but not anymore.
Here's a pic of my snowy NY neighborhood this morning after a plow finally went by. At least I can still find the last pix I uploaded there. *sigh*

Thank you to people who shared info on Imgur. I registered there. Also found Postimage.org where I also registered.
Doesn't hurt to have more than one source.

(27,247 posts)I'm a little confused here. Is Photobucket going to start charging for their services, or are they automatically going to delete the accounts of people who don't agree to their new terms?
In_The_Wind
(72,300 posts)the old way . . . .everything was stacked ie: animals, sub album ~ cats, next sub album ~ Kitteh.
you could clearly see what you wanted.
now, not so much
you will need to remember, which photos are in which album.
last count, I have over 4,000

(33,037 posts):coin flip:
The last time I logged onto Photobucket, I was a little shocked because the format was so different and the site was showing pictures that I don't remember uploading. It was actually a little creepy. So I think I am going to delete my account as well. What is the easiest way to do it?
