Intellectual Dishonesty

What is meant when one uses this term? Some possible meanings:

When one avoids an honest, deliberate and comprehensive approach to a matter because it may introduce an adverse effect on personally and professionally held views and beliefs.

It goes something like this:

Person on FB (usually a long time HS friend -- there is always THAT one. ) Gummint gonna take (insert the newest thing the government isn;t going to take away)

ME: I explain the illogicality and usually provide a link...

Person on FB: yeah but (insert strawman)

Me: You are being intellectually dishonest, you know it and I know it.

Person on FB: argle bargle, you are unteachable.
