think a good drama mystery, with a bit of humor added, without sleeze, would go over really well. Revenge is
probably the closest thing out there now without humor.

3. Monk!

Monk reminds me of Murder She Wrote, down to the crime solving wrap-up at the end of an episode. Its equal parts detective & comedy and Shaloub is great in it. And it can be surprisingly touching at times. The theme song will get stuck in your head...believe Randy Newman theme didn't start until the 2nd season.

It's a jungle out there...

It isn't free from violence, but it's a great series---a damned sight better than "Magnum." Another very good one: "Hill Street Blues."

Lots of espionage story lines along with crazy murderers.
The above mentioned The Rockford Files is one of the best.

Both of these are available on multiple streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime which is the easiest way to consume television shows.

There were the oddball detectives, Longstreet, Cannon and Barnaby Jones.

There was Mannix which was pretty cool.

Jim Hutton's short-lived Ellery Queen was a good show too.

I loved the scene where a classy star from Old Hollywood (I have no idea who), looked at Columbo and with a slight distaste suggested he might need an article of new clothes, but then she took a second look and added, and kept adding, and a new hat... coat... shoes... " and on and on. Bwah-ha-hah!1
