There was a huge accident here in Indiana on I-70 a few days ago. We had a bit of snow and it turned the interstate into a sheet of ice. A trucker riding in the lead of several other trucks had to hit the brakes for some reason and jack-knifed. The result was a forty vehicle pile up. The first five were jack-knifed semis that had tried to stop in response to the first truck losing control.

The main idea is, do not ride too close to other vehicles especially in bad weather conditions.

6. It looks like the truck here just pulled out to pass and didn't see him.

Might have been a blind spot.

But it looks to me as if there was a vehicle in the center lane that had stopped for some reason or was going very slow. The truck that swerved left was trying to avoid rear-ending it and either didn't see the car in the left lane or thought the damage would be less severe by actually taking a chance and possibly hitting the car in the left lane to avoid a more severe collision.

That's a lot of thinking to do in a few seconds and I don't think that driver in the middle lane took into account the oncoming traffic.

Good catch.

My wife is always yelling at me when I leave a big gap in front of me. But she learned to drive in Indiana.

Some idiots like to challenge me on the highway.

You've probably seen me at one time or another. Most of my escorts start on 84.

I hope to get past them before they hit the hill outside Port Jervis.

12. Heading east from the state line is really hard on 'em.

I usually catch 'em on the fly, instead of making 'em stop to show me their permits.

If I know the trucker, I won't ask.

If the trucking company is new to the broker who feeds me my trips, I pull 'em in
at the first rest area to see their paperwork.

I've sat with a few hotshots until permits could be ordered.
It sucks, cause there's no bathroom there.

But this one looks a bit more American?

I also do personally hate driving in the rain...
