I've got a potential tenant looking at my condo tomorrow. The condo has been sitting empty since November. I'd rather sell the thing, but the only offer I've had on it was for half price. Fuck that.
I used to want to be a landlord. Not so much now that I am one.

(12,254 posts)I hope you get a good tenant for the long term, or a fantastic contract to sell, or someone who will pay your price if they can start out rent-to-own. Good luck juju all around.

(30,947 posts)I think it would be much better to rent your condo than to take a loss if you sold it. If you still have a mortage, then the rent you receive will make the payments. Rent-to-own is also a good idea.

(10,418 posts)Rent is better than nothing, but I'm not making any money on the place. I'd rather just be rid of it.

(37,648 posts)I was doing that years ago, but I couldn't find a new tenant in time before I ran out of money to carry the note.

You'll be better off once this is behind you.

(10,418 posts)Yeah, I've been trying to sell this thing for two years. I had it leased for a year in that time. It has definitely become a burden. My wife would like to keep it, but if we're ever going to have any money we need a long term tenant or we need to sell it.
