Somehow, it doesn't have the same cachet as slamming the door on the wrong date. n/t gkhouston Jan 2013 #5

The injection-molded plastic doorknob had a very fine seam down the middle of it. If you knew the angular position of the doorknob for all of the dates, you could avoid "the dud" and get the date you needed 50% of the time when it was your time to open the door. Hasbro's replacement of the door with the "cell phone", aside from providing a fresh 21st-century touch, fixes that fatal design flaw, adding true randomness and an air of REAL mystery to this timeless game of fast thinking, strategy, and romance.

I played (and won) many games of Mystery Date when I was a kid. It was always the last resort at holiday family gatherings when my cousins and I got fucking sick of Monopoly, Sorry, and Life.

talking on the same phone with all of your friends

phone rings. it's *him*
"i'm afraid i'm gonna be a little bit late"
"have to work late at the office. can we get together another time?"
"i have a flat"
"how bout if i pick up a pizza and some beer and we hang out at your place?"
"are your parents home?"
"i'm really broke this week"
"sorry i have to cancel. oops--can't talk--my battery's about to die"

what a fun game!
