Researchers of the University of Westminster found out that watching frightening films can help you lose weight. On average, a single horror film burns around 113 calories. This is close to the amount of calories one burns during a half-hour walk or vigorous housework. Psychological thriller The Shining tops the list of most terrifying films and by watching it you apparently burn 184 calories.
Jaws and The Exorcist have a similar impact. The reason for this is that when watching a horror film, the pulse quickens, the blood flows faster through the body and the adrenaline surges. These body reactions ultimately lead to a burn of calories.
What about your diet regime? Will you replace your hard workout with an evening in front of the TV watching a scary film?
