Cinque Terre, meaning “The Five Lands”, is a twelve kilometer long section of the Italian Riviera in the region of Liguria. The stretch of coast is composed of five small coastal villages, namely: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso.
Over the centuries, people transformed the jagged and steep coastline into a terraced landscape and made the inhospitable nature habitable.
e 1997 Cinque Terre is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List because of its cultural landscape and value as well as its great scenery. The region represents a harmonious interaction between man and nature. Still today it illustrates the traditional way of life, as the villages are cut off from the world around and only few roads lead to Cinque Terre.

the UNESCO world heritage site at the Scandola Natural Reserve on the island of Corsica. Corsica is my favorite place on earth, where virtually every square foot of the island is beautiful beyond belief.
