Anyone notice something about 70's "nonfiction" books?

I mean ones about the end of the world, ("The Late Great Planet Earth&quot or ancient astronauts or the Bermuda Triangle or whatnot?

Even though in the decades since the 70's all of them have been proven to be big piles of stinking horseshit, the History Channel just regurgitates this old shit and puts glossy new effects on them.
