The Lounge is the right place for this because I'm looking for a Yoga DVD that non-Yoga people would like. I thought about this watching the video tape of the near crippled paratrooper that was miraculously healed in six months, using Yoga. Maybe, someone recovering from a back injury could use it for rehab once the main issues were healed. So, I'm looking for something that starts out slow, or I'm looking for the Yoga collection that the recovering paratrooper used for his recovery.
Any one know where I can find something suitable?

This one is Tai Chi based...
Otherwise, do a generalized Amazon Yoga program search.
My experience with Yoga is the following:
P90X Yoga - 90 minutes of exhaustive work.
Bikram Yoga - 90 minutes of yoga in a 104-108 degree room, where there are about 40 people only 3-5 of which are male. Almost all of them are in mid-high level of fitness. Awesome sauce!
X2 Yoga - 60 minutes, very hard and advanced. I can't do some of the moves.
Stating that, my only formalized Yoga is Bikram. I can fully say that I have no clue what I am talking about except that if you go for something that says beginner's yoga and help for the back, it should work.
Just take it slow, and keep at it. I didn't used to be able to put my forehead on my knee. Now I can(only after warming up a lot of course).

(8,217 posts)I would have never done Bikram if I haven't done P90X and Insanity first.
They gave me the foundation to be able to do what they were doing, rather than be considered the lech that stayed at the back watching all the sweaty women.
Yoga takes too much concentration for you to pay attention to the others, especially at that level.
But! It also helps to be able to go in to a class like that not scared to bare your torso.
Also! If you have cable, and On Demand, check out their fitness programs. They have beginners Yoga in there as well.
That is what I suggested my mother to do. That way, since she already pays for cable, she doesn't need to buy any DVDs.

Going back to the OP: after an injury, get "cleared" by the doc or the physical therapist before adding any stressful exercise. There's a pace of "healing" that sometimes needs to happen. Adding more work might slow down the recovery.

(46,752 posts)What has really surprised me is how much muscle tone he's lost in such a short time. But, we're at that age, so I'm also going to encourage him to use the weight machines at the Y.

(8,217 posts)That's why I mentioned, I didn't want to be the lech at the back just watching.
I actually kept up my first time, so I thought that was an accomplishment.
Not to mention the feeling of being completely drained afterwards. I was rubber going up a stair case.
