(18,705 posts)Yes.

So cool.

... although it shouldn't have -- we've seen live decapitated heads before -- it DEFINITELY
takes serious brain trauma... and to tell you the truth, I don't think stabbing part of the
brain would always "kill" them... if it were the wrong PART of the brain. Maybe an oversight
or maybe it just would've been to hard to have it make THAT much sense.

With the revolving towers that put out loud noises and attracted walkers who would then
fall into a big pit to be collected later?

They're supposed to be dumped in THAT pit, I think.

dawg
(10,624 posts)I strongly recommend this video game adaptation. It isn't the one that's being advertised on the show. This one is more of an interactive movie format, and the writing is just superb.
It tells the story of a separate group of characters dealing with the same zombie apocalypse as the tv show and comics. You play as a college professor convicted of murdering your wife's lover, and you wind up responsible for protecting a spunky little girl who got separated from her parents. The game is playable on PC and you don't need mad gaming skills or anything like that.
Filthy language, though. That's the only downside. (I'm assuming gore is not a downside if you already like the Walking Dead)
Anyway, I heartily recommend you check it out. I'm not affiliated with these guys; I just really loved the story.

dawg
(10,624 posts)Or is he just using Merle for some sort of evil trick?
texanwitch
(18,705 posts)Sounds familar.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)I was even thinking that he was using Merle as a double agent - get him to be his man inside the prison.
texanwitch
(18,705 posts)I think Carl would kill him.
By accident.
dawg
(10,624 posts)But Daryl wants to believe in him. That's probably going to be a frustrating storyline for me.
Baitball Blogger
(46,758 posts)His story arc is about standing up to his brother, because he knows he'll never change.
Flaxbee
(13,661 posts)I saw where Andrea talked to the Governor after the nurse took care of him.. then missed the last bit.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)announcing they had a cure and that everybody can live happily ever after.
just kidding. Not sure of the exact sequence, but after Tyreese & his daughter and company made it back with Carl, he locked them into one section of the prison. The daughter got angry, but Tyreese talked some sense into her, saying they were safe and it was there house and their rules.
The governor came out with a speech that said he let them down, and that he was scared and that they were betrayed - by Merle. A bunch of guys then surrounded him with guns, and they dragged out a hooded figure, that was revealed to be Daryl.
Flaxbee
(13,661 posts)messing with Merle and Daryl is a good idea - not with Andrea around, if she comes to her senses...
texanwitch
(18,705 posts)Was she being used.
Andrea can't be that stupid, maybe she can.
dawg
(10,624 posts)about Penny? I mean, it's sick and all. But he did seem to really love her. As a father, I can't help but feel a pang of sympathy for him.
Baitball Blogger
(46,758 posts)She was a zombie. I'm guessing you would be the first to get bitten in a Zombie apocalypse.

dawg
(10,624 posts)But it still isn't as cool as Michonne's katana.
texanwitch
(18,705 posts)Michonne's knows how to use it.
I want to be with her in a zombie fight.
I wouldn't want to have a zombie daughter around.
The guy is really sick, gone around the bend.
dawg
(10,624 posts)He's an insane jerk, but he loved his little girl and couldn't let her go. Totally the wrong choice, but I can understand it.

... because the Governor HOPED there was still something left of Penny inside of her (not unlike
Herchel and his barn full of walkers). He had hopes that someday there would be a cure or some
sort of miraculous reversal or something -- and he'd have his daughter back. Yes, he DID love
her very much. And it wasn't sick -- just ignorant of the realities.

(46,758 posts)for a while. But they have to give him important stuff to do.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)I have no idea what happens with him.
In the comics (spoilers below):
In the comics, Tyreese meets up with Rick before they get to Hershel's farm. Tyreese saves him early on and becomes Rick's most trusted friend. After Rick starts getting the phone calls in the comics and slips into insanity, Tyreese even becomes the temporary group leader, with the help of Dale & Hershel. But...
double spoiler below:
Tyreese gets executed by The Governor in the comics.
Baitball Blogger
(46,758 posts)It would be interesting to see how Daryl, Meryl and now an entire coterie of black characters will get along. How will racism do under a zombie infestation?
OH, and I'm going to relook at the film, because I think the zombie at the beginning of the movie may have been the same extra they used for the zombie that chased after them in prison.
Brigid
(17,621 posts)The one hiding out in his house with his son? Wonder what happened to him.
Baitball Blogger
(46,758 posts)Don't remember his name, but it would be a shame if we didn't see him again.
I noticed how they conveniently let go of the latino family too. That was in Season One, if I remember correctly. At least they were allowed to walk into the sunset as uninfected humans.
NewJeffCT

When Maggie and Glenn are facing off with Merle (and Michonne is in hiding and watching) and
they're NERVOUS and SCARED because they KNOW this guy is dangerous and they BOTH have
their pistols pointed and ready to fire from about 10 feet away and Merle has enough time to
partially crouch and THEN throw something through the window of the van -- and neither one
of them blow him away. They don't even get a fucking shot off.

GET...

... REAL!!!

It was a little bit of a stretch for Glenn, knowing the history and how furious and how dangerous
Merle was to virtually everyone in the group not to have killed hit without a moment's hesitation
the moment he realized who it was.

(18,705 posts)There has to be this tension on the show.
I wouldn't leave anyone alive who I left on a roof top.
Rick or Carl would have dropped him on sight.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)that Talking Dead will be moved up an hour to 10pm (yeah!) and will now be a one hour discussion, instead of 30 minutes. I always felt that 30 minutes was kind of rushed.
texanwitch

(46,758 posts)The Walking Dead 3.8: You forget what people do
Well hello, Tyrese.
Its the mid-season finale and we pick up with a misty morning and a distant scream as a zombie staggers through the woods. Tyrese pops out from behind a tree to kill the zombie (with a very large hammer). Tyreses group is under attack, thus the screaming. One guy gets a righteous zombie kill with a large knife, but some chick gets her arm gnawed on. Which is gross.
Tyreses group comes to the prison. No one is there to defend it except Luna Lovegood, Carol and one-legged Herschel because everyone else is out scouting Woodbury. Tyrese also refuses to kill the bit chick, which is obviously a huge mistake.
Andrea reflects on the Governors family while staring into a mirror. Shes a big fan of Woodbury now. God do I hate Andrea. I cant wait until she dies

(56,829 posts)Good description of Maggie's little sister (forgot her name - Beth?)
and, it does seem un-Rick-like to leave Carl and Judith at the prison with Luna, Hershel, Carol and a semi-unknown in Axel. At least the big prisoner that got shot last night saved Rick on that one occasion.
